In qualche caso, ci troviamo a dover usare più di un aggettivo per descrivere un nome, per esempio se dobbiamo dire “un tavolo rotondo, bianco, fatto di legno”. Nella lingua inglese, l’ordine degli aggettivi segue questa regola:
1) al primo posto mettiamo gli aggettivi che esprimono un OPINIONE (beautiful, ugly, boring ecc)
2) DIMENSIONI (big, little ecc)
3) FORMA (square, rectangular, round ecc)
4) ETA’ (new, old, antique ecc)
5) COLORE (white, black, red, green ecc)
6) ORIGINE/NAZIONALITA’ (Italian, American, English ecc)
7) MATERIALE (wooden, silver, silk ecc)
“un tavolo rotondo, bianco, fatto di legno” del nostro esempio iniziale diventa quindi “a round, white, wooden table”.
